Healthcare IT Technicians are responsible for keeping IT systems updated and secure, reviewing reports, compiling statistics, and managing patient data.

Students who complete the Healthcare IT Technician program will be prepared to install and configure workstations, manage patient information, and comply with regulations related to record-keeping.

Healthcare IT technicians work in a variety of health care institutions including private practice and major health care facilities.

Certification Information

Students in the Healthcare IT Technician program have two certification paths to choose from. Those who opt for a healthcare focus will concentrate on Electronic Health Records and CompTIA A+ certification, and prepare for the Electronic Health Records Specialist Certification (CEHRS) and A+ exams. 

The more technical focus will concentrate on Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA A+) and Network+ certifications, which are the preferred certifications for technical support and IT roles. 

Earning one of these national certifications demonstrates to future employers that you have mastered the skills and knowledge necessary to work successfully as a Healthcare IT Technician.

Healthcare IT Technician Enrollment

  1. Students who wish to enroll in an online certificate program must connect first with their school's guidance counselor to get approval. Please contact Mrs. Miller at 717.506.3401 or admiller@cvschools.org to get started.
  2. Students must then receive parent consent via a signed copy of the Guardian Consent Form prior to enrolling in a program (available through the guidance office).
  3. The students' guidance counselor will work directly with Harrisburg University to enroll them for the program.
  4. Emerge Prepared programs are fully funded through a generous educational fund so no payment is collected from the student. 
  5. Upon enrolling, students will be paired with a Student Success Advisor who will act as a coach and mentor throughout the program. 

If students need additional funding source, we offer many convenient options.

Pay in full using any major credit card, PayPal, or Venmo. Select “credit card” as your payment option.

Students have access to complete program materials for two years. But most students finish their courses sooner.

Note: Some programs require a clinical component beyond the online coursework which extends the program length.

The courses in the Healthcare IT Technician program include Medical Office Procedures and Administration, Electronic Health Records, A+ Comprehensive, Network+, and Healthcare IT.

The daily role of a Healthcare IT Technician includes managing wired and wireless networks, preparing reports, setting up user controls, and monitoring for any security or compliance issues.
